The Rams made it three wins from four with a commanding 45-7 victory over the Glasgow Tigers at Clydebank Community Sports Hub, completing the season sweep of their Scottish opponents with another dominant display.

The Tigers received the opening kickoff and ran the ball hard through Ben Attah but were forced to punt. Elliot Jackson and Michael Rojas got the Rams’ offence moving with a series of runs, and Rojas converted on fourth down to keep the drive alive. Jono Bell-Davis then came onto the field and scored on his very first touch, with the PAT from Trishmpriyo Sarkar good to make it 7-0.

Attah continued to run hard for the Tigers but the Rams defence stood firm and forced another punt. Jackson picked up a first down on the ground before Rojas connected with Faheem Hasan for a touchdown down the middle. Sarkar added the PAT to extend the lead to 14-0. More hard running from Attah followed, but a long pass was well defended by Kai Fahy and the Tigers were forced to punt once more.

Bell-Davis broke free on a big run to the red zone and powered into the end zone on the next play. The PAT was good from Sarkar to make it 21-0. Glasgow threw a couple of deep passes but could not move the chains, and their short punt handed the Rams good field position. Rojas connected with Adam Woodall on a pass before Jackson burst through for a big run as the first quarter came to a close.

A couple more Jackson runs kept the drive rolling before Hasan took it into the end zone on a screen pass. Sarkar’s PAT was good to push the advantage to 28-0. The Tigers responded with a decent drive mixing short passes and runs, but Tyler Broad picked off a pass and returned it past midfield. The next Rams drive ended in a turnover on downs, and Glasgow went back to the ground game before attempting a screen pass that was intercepted by Robbie Green.

Good running from Bell-Davis and Jackson moved the ball downfield, but a Rojas pass was picked off in the end zone by Glasgow’s Nicky Farrell, who returned it the full length of the field for a pick six. The PAT was good to cut the deficit to 28-7. The Rams ran the ball well on the next possession but a screen pass that lost yards and two incompletions led to the first punt of the day for Yorkshire, a short one from Dan Haywood. The Tigers ran the ball effectively in the closing stages but time ran out, and the Rams took a 28-7 lead into halftime.

The Rams fumbled on the first drive of the second half through Jackson, handing the Tigers the ball in excellent field position. Glasgow’s quarterback scrambled but threw the ball straight to Broad for his second interception of the afternoon. Rojas took a hard hit after releasing a pass on the next play and was replaced by Haywood for one snap before returning to the field. The Rams ran the ball well through Jackson and Bell-Davis, and the drive ended with a 45-yard field goal attempt that was good from Sarkar to extend the lead to 31-7.

Attah looked to have scored on a long run for the Tigers, but a flag pulled it back and they were forced to punt again. Penalties stalled the next Rams drive and they had to punt, with the return giving Glasgow the ball around midfield. The Rams defence held firm on the next possession, and the Glasgow punter did well to handle a bad snap and get the punt away. Bell-Davis answered with back-to-back runs to score his third touchdown of the afternoon, and the PAT was good from Green to make it 38-7. The Tigers went three-and-out on their next drive, and the Rams went back to running the ball with Nathaniel Wyse as the third quarter came to an end.

Rojas threw to Haywood in the end zone early in the fourth quarter but the receiver could not bring the ball in, and the drive ended in a turnover on downs a couple of plays later. Glasgow went three-and-out again, and Broad fielded the punt and returned it all the way for a touchdown. Green’s PAT was good to push the lead to 45-7. A short, high kickoff was recovered by the Rams, and the offence continued to run the ball. A pass attempt was interrupted when Rojas appeared to be sacked, but a facemask penalty kept the drive alive. Rojas was then brought down legitimately and the drive fizzled out, with a Tigers interception cancelled by an offside call. Glasgow tried a couple of deep passes before the final whistle brought the game to a close.

The comfortable victory moves the Rams to 3-1 on the season and maintains the pressure on the Newcastle Vikings at the top of the NFC 1 North. The Rams return home to West Leeds RUFC next week to face the Chester Romans.
