The Rams continued their strong start to the season with a commanding performance against the Chester Romans, running out 40-0 winners in their third game of the campaign. Whilst the opposition had travelled with a small squad, the Rams were professional in their approach and dominated the game from start to finish.

The Rams got off to a flying start with a big kickoff return from Tyler Broad setting up the first scoring drive. Good running from the offense set up Jono Bell-Davis to hammer it home for the first touchdown, with the PAT being converted to make it 7-0. The Romans were forced to punt on their first possession, and the Rams continued their run-heavy approach with Chey Lecour finding the endzone. A bad snap on the PAT led to Kicker Trish Sarkar being intercepted when it looked like he was going to make the extra point into two points, leaving the score at 13-0.

The Rams’ offense continued to click, with a big pass to Matthew Blackstock followed by another long run from Bell-Davis. Quarterback Taylor Umland then executed the QB sneak for another score, with the PAT being good to extend the lead to 20-0.

The second quarter saw both teams trading punts before the Rams’ defense came up big with a sack by Caleb Emeriewen. The Romans went for it on 4th down in their own territory but couldn’t convert, and Elliot Jackson made them pay by running it in on the next play. The PAT was good, making it 27-0.

The Romans finally managed to get a first down, but couldn’t complete on 4th down again. The Rams then added to their lead with a two play, two pass drive to Joey McEntee - one a screen and another a fade into the endzone from Umland. The PAT was no good, leaving the score at 33-0 at halftime.

The second half started with Broad intercepting the Romans’ first play, and the Rams quickly capitalized with another touchdown pass from Umland, this time to Blackstock again. The PAT was good, making it 40-0 and triggering the running clock. Both teams traded punts for the remainder of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Romans’ punt being blocked, but the Rams couldn’t capitalise on the next drive and had to punt again. The Romans managed to keep the ball until the two-minute warning but couldn’t add any points to the board, and the game ended with the Rams securing a comprehensive 40-0 victory.

The win gives the Rams a perfect start to their season, with their offense showing quality in both the run and pass game, whilst the defense kept the Romans off the scoreboard for the second time this season.
