One To Watch

#23 Tyler Broad

#23 Tyler Broad

One of the most versatile names on the Rams roster, Tyler Broad returns in 2026 listed at Safety but with a long history of contributing on all three phases of the game, from the backfield to the return unit.

Broad has featured heavily in recent fixtures against the Tigers, including the 80-7 home win back in 2022 where he carried the ball, caught touchdowns and handled the two-point kicking duties in the same afternoon.

With a new season to sink his teeth into, expect Broad to be front and centre on special teams and flying around on the back end of the defence from the opening whistle.

One To Watch

#30 Ben Attah

#30 Ben Attah

Named the Glasgow Tigers' team MVP for the 2025 season, #30 Ben Attah arrives in Leeds as the player the Rams' defence will be most keen to account for.

Attah opened his 2026 account last Sunday, scoring the only touchdown in a 6-0 road win over Clyde Valley Blackhawks — his first of the season — and the Tigers will look to him to provide the same spark against the Rams.

Limiting his output will be high on the list for the Rams' defence.

Summary

The Rams begin their 2026 campaign at West Leeds RUFC with a familiar opponent in town, as the Glasgow Tigers make the trip south to open the Rams’ season. The two clubs have met regularly in recent years, with the most recent fixture a hard-fought 23-10 playoff quarter-final win for the Rams at Clydebank in the summer of 2024.

Yorkshire arrive into the new season looking to bounce back from a 19-14 defeat to the Merseyside Nighthawks in last year’s NFC Playoff Semi Final, a result that brought a strong regular season to an abrupt end. With a long off-season to regroup, the Rams will be eager to set an early tone and remind the division what they are about.

The Tigers have proven a resilient fixture on the schedule, capable of keeping games tight and punishing mistakes. Their 2025 season ended in the NFC Playoff Semi Final with a 35-23 defeat to the Scunthorpe Alphas, but they arrive in Leeds having already opened their 2026 account with a 6-0 road win over Clyde Valley Blackhawks last weekend. The 2019 opener in Glasgow remains the last time they beat the Rams, and they will be keen to end that run on enemy turf.

With both sides shaking off the rust of the off-season, all eyes will be on the opening series to see who settles quickest and takes control of the afternoon.
