Rams handed Saints trip in play-offs
Tue Aug 02 2016
The Rams will travel to the Bury Saints on Sunday in the NFC1 quarter-finals, BAFA confirmed on Monday evening.
Defeat to the Edinburgh Wolves on Sunday left us outside the top four seeds and facing a road game in the first round of the play-offs, but uncertainty surrounded the seeding process for the three teams - the Rams, Manchester Titans and Doncaster Mustangs - level on 7-3 records.
A straight fight between the three on the inter-divisional tie-breaker of average points conceded would have seen us seeded fifth and facing the Kent Exiles.
However, with Manchester holding the in-division head-to-head on points difference in the games between the teams, they moved ahead of the Rams once it was confirmed that all second-placed teams would automatically be seeded from four to six.
That left the Rams seventh and facing the second-seeded Saints, who like Edinburgh completed an undefeated season but had to settle for 9-0-1 after a tie with the Sussex Thunder.
Sunday’s match will kick off at 2pm, slightly earlier than the Rams’ previous fixtures this season, at Thetford Rugby Club in Norfolk. Updates will, as always, be provided via the Rams Twitter feed - @Yorkshire_Rams.
