2015 Rookie Camp
Fri Feb 20 2015
The Rams are almost 2 weeks into the 2015 Rookie Camp and already there are positive signs for the coming season. Around 50 players have taken part in the camp so far with more being added almost daily, the interest in the club and the game has been outstanding. With experienced players and newcomers to the sport all taking part in the same conditioning and technique drills, along with classroom sessions, there has been plenty to be excited about for Rams players and supporters.
The Coach’s View
We spoke to Interim Head Coach, [Dom Ioanna](/news/meet-team-interim-head-coach-dom-ioanna/ “Dom Ioanna”) after the first training session: “I was very impressed with today’s turn out. We started with a couple of nervous faces but by the end of the day, I feel all of our rookies and staff worked very hard and put everything they could into it and got a lot out of the session. We’ve seen signs of great potential with this group, with the right coaches in place this year we can really go out there and make some noise in this league!”
With a new coaching setup and a rethink of the offensive and defensive playbooks, the classroom sessions have been well attended and the second training session was a perfect example of the importance of the mental side of American Football, with an impressive performance from all, considering there had only been 4 days to pick up a lot of new information.
GM’s Summary
General Manager, [Adam Cowley](/news/meet-team-adam-cowley/ “Adam Cowley”) was impressed with what he saw: “The new crop of rookies are picking up things very quickly. Our new coaching scheme and playbooks are working well and we’re progressing at a speed ahead of schedule. I’m very excited to see what we can produce come the start of the season with the excellent potential the rookies are showing. 2015 is set to be a exciting year for the senior team.”
