Panthers Impress in Home Tournament

The Pennine Panthers (comprised of the Yorkshire Rams Youth and the Manchester Entusiasm Trust) went undefeated Saturday in their first home tournament of the 2014 season. Facing off against the Chester Romans, Dancaster Mustangs and the Newcastle Academy, the Panthers went 3-0 conceding just 8 points on the day.
The Joint team opened the day with 3 first half scores against the Chester Romans, which was enough for a 19-0 victory to kick things off. On the 2nd field, the Doncaster Mustangs started strongly against the rookie Newcastle Academy winning 24-6. The second Round of matches match the Panthers against the Mustangs, where the expected close match did not materialise, as the Panthers romped to a 48-8 decision. On the other pitch Newcastle were able to edge out Chester in a thriller 25-24 for their first win. The finish the day the Panthers took on the Newcastle outfit who were keen to build on their momentum. Although after Pennine jumped to an 18-0 lead injuries caught up with the new team and their coaching staff took the hard decision to pull them out of the game on safety grounds. Doncaster on the other hand were able to bounce back, nicking a low scoring game 12-7 against the Romans.
The Pennine Panthers are next in action on the 17th of May when they travel up to Newcastle to take on the Academy, Woodham and Chorley.
